Palomar Engineers Off Center Fed Dipole Antenna, 80-6 Meters (9 bands-including 15 meters), 500/1.5KW/5KW PEP rated
After I moved, I needed a new antenna. I had my friend Dave, K3DFG, come and take a look around the property. I needed a sighted ham to look it over. We settled on an off center fed dipole. Rich, AA3RC, suggested this one from Palomar Engineering. He made an excellent suggestion. The antenna has precise lengths, and a built-in 4:1 balun and RF choke.
We hooked it up and I went in and sent a test signal.

Suddenly, a station started responding, even though I hadn’t called CQ. I knew right away this antenna worked. That weekend I worked Japan on 15 meters for the first time, still running QRP. That really impressed me. That has continued. 40 meters sounds like a whole new band with a lower noise floor, and I can easily work Europe. I even worked Austrailia on 20 meters CW. I love this antenna!
